Challenge
The Dayton Lamina Beaver Dam facility relied on manual inventory and shipping processes that, despite years of service, led to human errors, costly press die issues, and a pressing need for a more efficient, quality-driven system.
Results
After successfully using ERP Suites Scanability at another location, Dayton Lamina implemented the barcode solution at their Beaver Dam facility to eliminate inventory errors and boost efficiency. With eleven flows deployed, they now fulfill and ship orders with greater accuracy and precision.

“I sat in the monthly review meeting today, and thanks to Scanability, this is the first meeting in years I heard we did not ship any incorrect parts in the last month!”

Background
Dayton Lamina is a world leader in the production of catalog and special punches, die components, die details, punch blanks, and metal stamping tools, all produced in support of the metal-working and plastics industries. The company has different locations around the world, including Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. This manufacturing location is a provider of die springs, essential to a variety of machinery assemblies.
Business Challenge
In The Dayton Lamina Beaver Dam facility continued to use manual, paper-based processes for managing their inventory, as well as picking and shipping product. This laborious system served them well for many years, but human error was inevitable. Incorrect parts were being shipped to customers, causing a bottleneck that led to increased press die downtime and, in some cases, costly damage to the press dies. Dayton Lamina needed a more efficient way to monitor and control inventory, and to increase quality assurance in picking and shipping.
The Solution
Dayton Lamina previously implemented ERP Suites Scanability, a barcode solution for JD Edwards, with another location in 2020. When Dayton Lamina Beaver Dam facility reached out to ERP Suites with their issue, our team recommended Scanability as a solution for increasing quality and efficiency, and the Dayton Lamina team was pleased to stick with a tried-and-true solution. By keeping track digitally via Scanability of all product entering and exiting a facility, Dayton Lamina Beaver Dam facility would be able to eliminate the inventory errors that plagued their processes.
Eleven flows were implemented for the Dayton Lamina Beaver Dam facility, including:
- Inventory Management Suite
- Purchase Order Receipt and directed Putaway
- Work Order Management
- Directed Sales Order Picking
Today, Dayton Lamina is fulfilling and shipping orders with more accuracy and precision than ever before.
